Come out to the Baseball Heritage Museum and League Park and join us in celebrating Charlie Jamieson Day!
Jamieson, Cleveland Indians left fielder from 1919-1932, will be inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame Saturday evening , July 30 right before the Indians vs. the Oakland A’s game. His fellow 2016 inductees include Albert Belle, Frank Robinson and Jim Thome.
Jamieson played most of his home games at League Park from 1919 until his retirement in 1932. An anchor in left field, he played alongside such greats as Tris Speaker, Joe Woods and Ray Chapman. He played an integral role in the 1920 World Series, where he batted .333 for the series . His lifetime batting average with the Indians was .316 and for his entire career he had 1,990 hits and batted .303.
Jamieson passed away in 1969, but his memory lives on. A gathering of Jamiesons will unite at the museum Saturday morning to remember one of Cleveland’s greatest and most beloved players. A special display will be set up, family members will share memories and a commissioned portrait by Cleveland’s own Joe Gazzo will be revealed. The family will then stand in left field for a photo op.
