Folk Hero Forever: The Eclectic, Enthralling Baseball Life of Luke Easter

April 27 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

In celebration of the 70th anniversary of his trailblazing 1949 debut, this spirited presentation and discussion will focus on the baseball exploits of Luke Easter, former Cleveland Indians slugger. Please join Alex Painter, author of ‘Folk Hero Forever: The Eclectic, Enthralling Baseball Life of Luke Easter’, for an afternoon dedicated to the oft-forgotten but nonetheless spectacular baseball feats of Easter. The eleventh player to break baseball’s color barrier, thousands watched in amazement throughout his career as the towering yet mysterious Easter hit the longest, and most, home runs many of them had ever seen – in no fewer than five countries! Easter, never the primary subject of any written work, finally gets his due in ‘Folk Hero Forever’, which was buoyed by nearly 200 sources.

A Baseball Heritage Museum  An All Star Year Program presented in part with the support of Cuyahoga Arts and Culture (CAC)
