Latinos and Baseball: In The Barrios and the Big Leagues Collecting Event

July 22 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History has launched a multiyear collecting initiative- to identify artifacts that reflect the social and cultural influence of baseball in Latino communities -and you can be a part of it!

Smithsonian curators will be on site to consider materials for possible donation to national collections. The National Museum of American History is looking for things such as unique baseball uniforms, stadium signs, tickets, food vendor signs, home movies, vintage photographs, and handmade equipment used in the game, or used by fans in the stands. If you have these among your family treasures bring them! Or just come and enjoy this historic day.

Presentations based on the book Playing America’s Game: Baseball, Latinos  and the Color Line  by Adrian Burgos
at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm.
