“Speaking For League Park” – Cleveland Sandlot Baseball

February 25, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

As part of the “Speaking For League Park” series, the Baseball Heritage Museum will hold a round-table discussion about sandlot baseball in Cleveland on Saturday, February 25. The participants will include: Nobby Lewandowski, Gary Oring, Frank Petruno and Russ Schneider

All four men were participants in sandlot baseball in Cleveland when Cleveland was considered the sandlot baseball capitol of the world. Lewandowski and Oring both went on to play professional baseball. Petruno was a long-time player and manager on the Cleveland sandlots as was Schneider, who later became the beat writer covering the Cleveland Indians for The Plain Dealer and to author numerous books about the team. All were involved with the Wenham Truckers sandlot team, one of Cleveland’s most prominent and successful Class A baseball teams.

The program is made possible, in part, thanks to a grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture (CAC.)
