Out of Left Field: a novel of Gilded Age Cleveland -Robyn Marcs

Before their grandmother’s funeral in Lake View Cemetery, in Cleveland, OH; siblings Jane and Alexander Grey of Boston ascend the stairs of the James A. Garfield Monument in order to get a good view of the sorry Cleveland skyline and the lake. When they go back down the stairs, they end up in 1913 Cleveland. In this industrial and wealthy Cleveland three things rule the city: millionaires, horseless carriages, and the down-on-their-luck Cleveland Naps Baseball Club. Jane and Alex try to find work in the home of a prominent family on Euclid Avenue aka Millionaires’ Row, and try to figure out all the while why the hell they’re there–and how the hell do they get home? Throw in some legendary ball players, witty British servants, and some very out-of-place Bostonians for a home run of a story about love, home, and baseball.
